Welcome!

Thank you for exploring this training! When a congregation experiences the departure of a pastor it always enters a season of transition, and that usually involves the work of searching for a new ministry leader. This 3-part training series provides guidance for all those who have roles in that work: Search teams, councils, and classis counselors.

  • The first video, “Pastor Search Training: Introduction,” is for all those involved in the congregation’s search process– search teams, councils, and classis counselors.

  • The second video, “Pastor Search Training: Search Teams and Councils,” is specifically for those within the church who are entrusted with leadership at this time: Council chairpersons, search committee members and chairpersons, etc.

  • The third video, “Pastor Search Training: Classis Counselor Orientation,” is specifically for classis counselors, and helps them to understand their role and responsibilities. Others are welcome to view as well, of course, and it might be especially helpful for council chairpersons to know the person and expectations that come with the classis counselor role.
